Roto Mirrors

Roto Mirrors

2017 | Polyurethane + Glass mirror

I became interested in casting materials and techniques in early 2017 when I had a shop space with proper venting. The shop allowed me to experiment with materials I wouldn’t have been able to work with out of my apartment.

The above frames were created through a process called Roto-casting. Once the two-part polyurethane batch is measured, colored, and mixed it is then poured into the mold cavity and an HDPE lid (High Density Polyethylene) is tightly secured. With the lid secure the mold is able to be safely rotated, evenly coating the interior with cured polyurethane.
